     LOVE'S CURSE (Browser, Unity) 2021

    Welcome to Love's Curse: Til Graduation Do Us Part, a romance visual novel with a creepy twist. It was created on Unity, for Spooktober 3rd Annual Visual Novel Jam.
    Play as the Main Character in your last week of high school. Study hard to make it to graduation, all while finding romance, in a story where your choices make a difference.
    Start the week on the Monday before graduation (Friday).  Features three Love Interests (Matoi [gender can be chosen], Natsuki or Yuki) and an Afterschool Point-and-Click phase with items that create a branching narrative.  Be careful not to fill your Dread Meter, as everything is not as it seems...  Whose affection will you win over?

    WEKNEWABLES (Browser, Unity) 2021

    A group of friends competed in the 2021 Climate Jam, and forged "Weknewables", a real time strategy browser game focused on renewable energy solutions for a better future.
    I contributed the theme song as well as some sound design that unfortunately did not make the final version, but it was a great learning experience and a fun experience writing in a different style.

     20ETERNAL EQUINOX (PC/VR, Unity) 2021

    Eternal Equinox is a PC/VR asymmetrical multiplayer game developed over the weekend of January 29th - 31st 2021 for the Global Game Jam. All music and sound design by Evan James Audio.

    GROUP HUG (PC/mobile, Unity, Wwise) 2020

    Group Hug is a 2-D, rope and physics based platformer with co-op and battle royale multiplayer. The game has been internally developed over Discord and GitHub by developer Joel Grein, animator/visual artist Garrett Porter and sound designer/audio implementation specialist Evan James.

    The "Audio Odyssey" demo is intended to showcase several Wwise integrated audio elements in a controlled environment.
    • The player's pathway is somewhat linear and constricted, keeping the focus on the main path which triggers dynamic music.
    • The jump is the classic Sonic the Hedgehog jump, but the landing is a self made combination of several original foley elements exported from FL studio and imported through Wwise.
    • Bushes rustle, puddles splash, rocks create stone footsteps.
    • The music is 2 songs: one for the forest/canyon section and one for the desert/night time area. The forest theme is split into 5 segments of 8 bar lengths that can then further be broken into instrument stems. Both themes play the segments of the song in a linear sequence of containers, but can be interchanged freely at the end of a given bar or with a short cross fade transition.
    • The wild sounds are contained within a random container with some pitch randomization, as well as not repeating the last 4 samples and some brief randomized offset delay between instances of the container. This container is also prioritized low and mixed with an aggressive high pass filter to prevent clashing with the main music. There is also some minor randomized positional offset on this container relative to the player.
    • The switches affect footstep sounds for grass, dirt, rock and wet materials, respectively.
    • The wind zone is an object SFX paired with particle effects and some minor reverb/attenuation tuning within Wwise.
    • Torches are ambient zones in multi-position mode for optimization.
    • My intention was to have the music segments progress in bar/rhythm interchange with the player's geography, but I found given the smaller scope of my project it was too chaotic. I will be building out more conveyably dynamic elements to my music integration in future builds of new areas.

    FIXOSAURUS (PC, Unity) 2020

    Fixosaurus is a 3-D adventure game in the mold of Untitled Goose Game that was developed by a group of students at Bellevue College for the 2020 Global Game Jam. All sound design, music and audio integration performed by Evan James.
